The coveted World Cup was presented in front of the fans at the Luzhniki Stadium by Iker Casillas and a Russian supermodel ahead of the opening ceremony.
Casillas and Natalia Vodianova paraded the trophy in a stylish Louis Vuitton case prior to kick-off in the opening game between hosts Russia and Saudi Arabia.
Former Spain and Real Madrid captain Casillas, who won the World Cup in 2010, was seen holding aloft the trophy in front of the excited fans on Thursday afternoon.

Casillas showcased the trophy to all sides of the ground before making his way off the pitch in time for the pre-World Cup entertainment.
French luxury brand Louis Vuitton offered their services to produce the bespoke piece for the coveted trophy, along with teaming up with tournament sponsors Adidas to create a match ball 'collection trunk.'
The case features laser-engraved monogram titanium and the brand's globally recognised print.

The official trophy case is also set to be presented at the final match of the tournament on July 15.
